IMDbThis movie is the first prequel to DragonHeart (1996).
The cost for the CGI effects work for Drago was $7,000,000.
According to screenwriter Matthew Feitshans, Drago's arrival to Earth with the eggs is to help repopulate the dragon species after the ancient dragons from over 400 years ago have been long gone.
In the end-credits scene, the potter is seen selling his pots as "dragon pots."
This film is the first in the franchise that shows the dragon sharing its heart in a new way, as the previous movies had the dragons taking half of it out and putting it through a human's preexisting wound. Drago shares his heart by getting some of its blood on the claw he uses to cut himself and cutting Gareth's chest with it, leaving a scar on him. It's also the first time a dragon shares its heart with a still-living human.
"Brude: I seen you've gone dizzy eyed for that yeasty scut!"
