The character which Hawks talks to on the video-phone at the beginning of the film is the robot from Fred Olen Ray's previous film, Star Hunter (1996).

The spacesuit from the cover art is a re-use of the Starfighter uniform from the film The Last Starfighter (1984), even showing the same purple stripe and tall 4-way star symbol along the left shoulder.
Debut of Vanessa Koman. Fred Olen Ray was having dinner with friends one night, including author Victor Koman and his young daughter Vanessa. When Ray passed a basket of bread to Vanessa and asked if she wanted a roll, she said, "Yes, in your next movie." Ray thought that was so funny he gave her a small part in this film.
4 minutes 30 seconds into the film, we see a brief shot of a city at night. The closest building, on the left hand side, is lit so that the windows spell out a phone number. It starts with 2622.
