Duma is played by 6 different Cheetahs. All orphaned or poached Cheetahs themselves; were hand raised in different parts of Africa.
Although several Cheetahs play the part of Duma during the film, one in particular stands out. This cheetah has a very obvious scar on their snout on the right side between the eyes. Most of these cheetahs have a very similar look, but the scar is an easy giveaway on closeups of his face from scene to scene that it is not always the same Duma.
The film marked the sole and final film for Alexander Michaeletos and Carroll Ballard respectively.
Rosario Dawson was considered for the role of Kristin.
Danny Trejo was considered for the role of Peter.
