Even though both are equally known both in the music industry and other movies and television shows, this is the first time Queen Latifah and Ludacris have ever been in a movie together.
In one scene, Brenda's family visit the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Bonanza City, New Mexico. The filming location is notable for the controversial reality show Kid Nation as well as the site in which cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed by a prop gun handled by Alec Baldwin.
