When the movie producer comes to the Pusser house to talk to Buford about making a movie, the old red 1968 Chevy truck that was used in the chase scene in Walking Tall (1973) can be seen.
The previous entry had been suitably watered down not to secure an R rating. This final sequel redresses that by returning the series to its more violent roots.
It was Part 2 and not this installment that the real life Sheriff Pusser would have portrayed himself, as he was killed in the car accident in 1974.
Premiered in theaters in the U.S. on August 10, 1977.
A fourth entry was planned but never came to fruition.
"Robbie Teal: Are you going to send me to jail, Sheriff? Buford Pusser: No son, I'm not"
"Buford Pusser: [opening narration] I had to stand up for myself alone, and you saw what they did to me... Until all men can stand up for what they believe in, THE SAME DAMN THING CAN HAPPEN TO ANY ONE OF YOU!"
