The aircraft is a Gallant 270, made by Gallant Aviation, a fictitious company; probably named after producer Michael O. Gallant.

John de Lancie plays the co-pilot of the ill-fated plane accidentally hit by a small jet due to a distracted air controller. The actor would later play a distracted air controller who causes two planes to crash in one of the episodes of Breaking Bad (2008).

The logo for the airline was Q. John de Lancie played Q in the Star Trek series.
