Sadly, director Bob Saget died on January 9, 2022, which would have been the 75th birthday of his sister, Gay, on whose life the film is based. Fellow comedian Louie Anderson, who cameos in the film, passed away weeks after Saget on January 21, 2022. Fellow actor Peter Scolari, who also cameoed in the film, had died three months earlier on October 22, 2021.
Three of the cast members Louie Anderson (Date #3), John Ritter (Date #5), Peter Scolari (Date #2), as well as the movie's director Bob Saget, have passed away since the movie's release in 1996. John Ritter died on September 11, 2003 at age 54 from a rare aorta disorder; Peter Scolari died of cancer on October 22, 2021; Bob Saget died on January 9, 2022 after a head injury; Louie Anderson died of cancer just three weeks later after battling cancer.
