TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Barbra Streisand met former romantic partner/companion Jon Peters on this film who was was the production's hairdresser. Peters made and styled the wigs Streisand used for this movie.

The short haircut of Barbra Streisand in this film was actually a wig that had been styled by her then boyfriend and hair-stylist on this film Jon Peters.

Actors Michael Landon and James Farentino were considered for the leading man role of Pete Robbins and were screen tested by the part in the end was cast with actor Michael Sarrazin.

Barbra Streisand was not fond of the film, telling Playboy magazine that it was financially successful "in its own stupid way." Director Peter Yates later responded, "It's not up to her other films, but to call something 'stupid' that many people have enjoyed is to criticize the taste of those people. She certainly liked the film when we made it, and she liked it even more, I'm sure, when the checks came in. She had a big part of it."

Director Peter Yates said of this movie: "This was really a film to promote Barbra [Streisand], to make her look great and for people to enjoy her, which they did, I'm glad to say . . . It's very difficult to cast somebody in a film opposite Barbra because unless you have a major star, you're going to have problems of balance. But no major star wanted to play it . . . It was like the girl's part in almost any other film. Instead of the girl following two paces behind the guy, it was the other way around. So we had to find somebody who was a strong personality who could act . . . and get along with Barbra".
