Screenwriter Phil Alden Robinson's (under the pseudonym Chris Reese) second film to deal with ghosts. The previous year Robinson wrote and directed Field of Dreams (1989), which featured the ghosts of deceased baseball players. The other two writers, S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock, co-wrote Tremors (1990). Their next feature, Heart and Souls (1993), was another comedy about the afterlife.
