Indraneil Sengupta, Abhijit Guha, and Ayush Das play the roles of Feluda, Jatayu, and Topshe in Sandip Ray's new film Hatyapuri. The setting has modernised, with telephones and laptops incorporated, but the narrative stays fairly true to the original concept. The group meets a man who enjoys collecting old manuscripts while on vacation in Puri. He lives in a home with a few other people. They also discover there is a buyer waiting for him to sell these precious manuscripts, despite the fact that they are. Initially, Indraneil Sengupta's portrayal of Feluda seems a little stiff, but as the story develops, he becomes more comfortable in the part. The overdrawn nature of Abhijit Guha's portrayal of Jatayu occasionally makes room for some amusing relief, but perhaps too much. However, Ayush Das's Topshe occasionally makes ludicrous facial expressions that fail to persuade, and his job has mostly been restricted to one-liners. Ray provides us fresh hope for a contemporary Feluda with Hatyapuri, but in the future, the narrative, context, and acting will need to be more spectacular to leave a lasting effect on the spectators' minds.
Sandip Ray's 18th Feluda Movie.
Indraneil Sengupta also played another famous sleuth Kiriti.
