Initially, M.G. Sreekumar was offered to sing all the five songs, but the decision changed and four songs were sung by K.J. Yesudas ("Pramadhavanam", "Devasabhathalam", "Gopika Vasantham", "Thu Badi Masha Allah") and the former got only one song, "Naadaroopini". But it was M.G. Sreekumar who won that year's National Film Award for Best Playback Singer for that single song.
Often regarded as the best musical film in Malayalam. All the songs in the film are considered evergreen classics.
