TRIVIA

Trivia

The film's premise is a creative exploration of a historical proposal in 1910 to introduce hippos into the Louisiana bayou to solve a meat shortage, which was ultimately not approved.

The film uses practical effects for the hippopotamus to create a more tangible threat.

Despite the title, the hippopotamus in the film attacks due to territorial instincts and to protect its young, not out of hunger, as hippos are herbivores.
