The production office for this film was actually Steven Greenstreet's studio apartment in Salt Lake City, Utah. At one point, research papers were literally spread wall to wall.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture declined numerous interview requests. The last voice mail received from them said, "We have no one here qualified to talk to you about agriculture."
