TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

In animation historian Jerry Beck's 1994 poll of animators, film historians and directors, this cartoon was rated the tenth greatest cartoon of all time.

The Jumbo-Gro juice was drank 10 times total, 1 time by the canary, (as a medication, by the hungry cat, almost acting like a doctor), 1 time by the dog, 4 times by the mouse and 4 times by the cat, until the bottle became empty, being drank so quick and often, (among the mouse and cat).

The mouse is reading a book entitled "The Lost Squeekend," a pun on the 1945 film "The Lost Weekend." The plot of that movie dealt with the dangers of alcoholism and bottles.

Coldernell, the name on the modern (for the time) icebox is a play on "colder than he*ll," which itself is likely a pun on popular product names like Frigidaire.

Popular Dialogues

"[last line and scenery] Mouse: Ladies and gentlemen, we're gonna have to end this picture. We just ran out of the stuff. Good night. [after this quote, spoken by the mouse, the cat and mouse are at equal height standing on top of the Earth. They have an arm on the neck of each other in friendship and both begin waving farewell to viewers, just before the closing credits' music begin]"

"Mouse: [the house sized bulldog chases the smaller cat into the city only to see that the cat has stopped running away from him. The dog comes to a sudden screeching halt and is quite confused to see that the previously scared of him cat is just leaning comfortably to the base of a building smiling. The very confused dog, leans in on the cat to see why the cat stopped running away from him. The cat just points for the dog to look around the corner of the building at something. As the dog does so, out looms a now building sized mouse, towering well over the bulldog. The mouse pauses for a moment before looking down at the dog and simply says] Boo! Mouse: [This sends the dog running away as fast as possible, leaving a towering mouse and small cat at the building] Well, see chum? It's like I said at the beginning. I told you I'd save your life, didn't I? Cat: Duh, yeah! Gee, thanks a lot ol pal! [shakes the giant mouse's hand happily] Mouse: And here's the little bottle that did the whole trick. [giant mouse hands the Jumbo-Gro bottle to the smaller cat] Mouse: Well... so long shorty! [giant mouse stomps away from the cat happily barely fitting through the streets at his huge size] Cat: Duh! So long! [waves good bye to the exiting gigantic mouse] Cat: But hey! Duh, I'm still hungry! [the cat salivates hungry like and grins oh so happily as he further watches the gigantic mouse stomping off through the streets. Suddenly seeing the word 'FOOD' displayed on the back of the mouse. The grinning cat quickly chugs down more of the Jumbo-Gro and quickly rises in size after doing so. The cat now wearing a bib and holding a giant knife and fork grins down at the now smaller than he is mouse. As the mouse takes notice of what is now behind him he runs away only for the cat to chase him, as both quickly exit the city]"
