The movie was shot on a real highway, with real cars speeding at 60 mph next to the actor, without CGI, with the handheld camera shooting 360°. This was a big challenge, as after each take, several cars had to be brought back to the start while others were speeding past. Director Andrea Di Stefano, who has experience shooting in the US (with The Informer (2019)), says it would be quite difficult to do the same in the US, due to the costs related to the location shoot, the production and the insurance.
The crew published ads in Chinese in Chinese-Italian magazines to find people from the Chinese community in Milan. Many people showed up to the casting process very excited about the opportunity to be represented realistically in an Italian movie, even if only a fraction of that community is shown onscreen.
Before writing the script, Andrea Di Stefano interviewed DIA agents (the anti-mafia unit), who gave him their points of view on the modern Milan criminal underground.
Andrea Di Stefano wrote the movie with Pierfrancesco Favino in mind for the lead role.
