Chris Sarandon plays Fritz Bhaer, who is Jo's husband. In the 1994 adaptation of Little Women. Chris Sarandon's ex-wife, Susan Sarandon, played Jo's mother (Mrs. March).

The movie never saw a DVD release.

Louisa May Alcott's novel has been adapted on two previous occasions: directed by Phil Rosen in 1934, and directed by Norman Z. McLeod in 1940.
