TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

A few weeks before filming started, Balthazar Getty fell from a tree and broke both his wrists. The director decided to write his injuries into the script, and put his character Ralph's arm in a sling for half of the film.

The original final script had over 70 uses of the F-bomb. The studio decided it would be cruel to make 12-year-olds swear against their parents' wishes.

Chris Furrh was in another movie this same year about a group of kids stranded alone on an island: The Magical World of Disney: Exile (1990).

Balthazar getty got his role as Ralph after being found in an art class by one of the producers

Sam and Eric (the twins) are never identified by their names throughout the film. Even the official cast list enters them as the Twins. This points out their interchangeability since even in the book (and the original 1963 film) no one could tell them apart.

Popular Dialogues

"Ralph: Okay, listen up. Whoever holds the conch gets to speak. That's the rule."

"[all are marching and singing in cadence. One sings a sentence, the others repeat it] Luke: Mama, mama can't you see? / What the Army's done to me? / They put me in a barber's chair. / Spun me 'round, I had no hair./ I used to drive a Cadillac. / Now I'm marching in a pack. / I used to drive a Chevrolet. / Now I'm marching for my pay. / They took away my T.V. / Got me doing I.T."
