Maria Andre was under contract already to play the character Lorna, and about to start filming, when the producer Russ Meyer learned of the availability of Lorna Maitland - a blonde with bigger breasts who eventually got the lead part.
Although banned by the British Board of Film Censors, Lorna was practically on general release in Cornwall, thanks to the decision by the local authority to pass the film for exhibition throughout the county. During the period from August 1967 to June 1969 Lorna played for a week in Camborne (three times), Falmouth, Helston, Newquay, Truro, St Austell, Bodmin, Fowey and St Blazey.
Advertised in the Yorkshire Evening Post during September 1968: "Yorkshire premiere at the Classic Royal, Manningham Lane, Bradford. Local "X" certificate. Cannot be seen anywhere else in the North. THE FILM THEY SAID WAS NOT TOO HOT FOR BRADFORD!" (The last line refers to the fact that since the council did not have a film censoring department, the job was passed down to the Bradford Fire Service Committee, a point not missed by the advertisers).
"Lorna: [speaks to herself...] Wham, bam thank you mam. [... thinks to herself] Lorna: Is it me? Why can't they tell me what's wrong? Why can't he make love to me like the way he should? If he could only make me feel... the way HE feels when he... if he starts slowly... I'm a woman not just a tool. Tomorrow will make one year... happy anniversary to me. He's probably forgotten what day it will be..."
"Luther: Well, if she's getting all her sleep in the night time... she must be real busy in the day time."
