The movie has several "Alice in Wonderland" connections like the 'Open Me' box. Also the book that the Barefoot Man (played by Thomas Nelson) is reading when Penny approaches him with the blue goblet is actually "Alice in Wonderland".
The actor originally slated to play Tenshi broke his ankle a week before principal photography. It was hoped that he could still play the role, and so crutches were added to his character. Even after Andrew Roth took the role, the crutches remained as an homage.
This is the third film directed by Mann Munoz where Christopher Elliott (role of Lucien) gets to play the bad guy.
