Kim Chiu, Bea Alonzo, Carla Abellana, Angel Locsin and Marian Rivera were heavily considered for the role that eventually went to Heart Evangelista.
Kris Aquino agreed to appear in this movie as debt of gratitude to Sharon Cuneta, whose husband, then Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, supported the Presidential candidacy of Kris' brother, then Senator Noynoy Aquino. Aquino was supposed to star in a lead role in another movie which was supposedly a movie also competing for the Metro Manila Film Festival but she decided to shelve the movie after the death of her mother, former Philippine president 'Corazon Aquino.'.
Jericho Rosales was initially attached to play the young Alfonso. He was, however, replaced by JC de Vera.
Helen Gamboa, Erich Gonzales and Sid Lucero were initially attached to the movie.
Kris Aquino chose not to have her name appear on the promotional materials in order to not draw attention from Sharon Cuneta, the lead of the film.
