TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Misty Rowe wore a heavily padded bra in order to play the top heavy Fanny.

The film was never intended as a sequel to "Meatballs". The screenplay was originally titled "Call Me Meathead", then filmed under the working title, "Summertime". When the studio picked it up, they changed the name to "Meatballs Part II", much to the surprise of director Ken Wiederhorn.

The horror film that the kids watch is Shock Waves (1977), also directed by Ken Wiederhorn.

Original "Meatballs" producer John Dunning, who owned the rights to the film, wasn't interested in making a sequel. But, he sold the title rights to "Meatballs II" to another production company, which then took it to TriStar Pictures, so then they had to hire someone to write the script, get the movie made and get it released. At the same time, the producers of the film director Ken Wiederhorn had just made - this film - were trying to get a distribution deal. They showed it to several studios. The people at TriStar saw it and said: Ha! Why don't we just buy this film and slap a new title on it: "Meatballs Part II"? And that's what they did. They bought it for a lot of money, re-titled it and showed it in sneak previews across the country. They advertised: Tonight! A sneak preview of "Meatballs Part II". Of course people showed up for a sequel to such a successful comedy. TriStar saw that they could draw an audience with this, and they decided to go with it.

Cheryl ('Richards, Kim') is asked if she comes from another planet (due to her lack of experience with boys). Cheryl replies that she sort of is. Richards played a young alien girl, marooned on earth, in two Disney movies: Escape to Witch Mountain (1975), and Return from Witch Mountain (1978).

Popular Dialogues

"Fanny: Just remember ladies. That this is a cabin for respectable women. There will be no talk of pinkies. They're not playthings, you know! They're weapons! Dangerous weapons! Like loaded guns! They can go off when you least expect it!"

"Col. Bat Jack Hershey: [on seeing Flash, wearing a woman's dress, being levitated into the air by Meathead the alien] My God, he really *is* a fairy!"
