TRIVIA

Trivia

Miss Lovely (2012) had released around 300 screens in India on 17 January 2014.

The film has since screened at numerous film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival and International Film Festival Rotterdam.

Miss Lovely (2012) competed in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.

Miss Lovely (2012) also featured the re-discovery of an anonymous Indian disco album Disco Jazz by Rupa Biswas when tracks appeared in the soundtrack of Miss Lovely (2012). The album has now become a cult collectible revered by DJ's worldwide, prompting a Guardian article "From Bengal to boogie: Rupa Biswas, India's rediscovered disco diva".

The film was originally intended to be a documentary, however the decision was scrapped due to the Mumbai underground film industry still having Mafia connections which potentially posed a danger to the filmmakers.
