Story

With a gross of 2,017,561,400 yen in box office revenue with 993,196 tickets sold, it became one of the highest grossing film of the Gundam franchise. In it's second week of release, it earned 1,016,249,400 yen with 501,706 tickets sold, becoming the first film in the Gundam franchise to break into the billion yen mark since Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack (1988). After its eight week of release, earning 2,017,561,400 yen in box office revenue with 993,196 tickets sold, the film is projected by it's official website to surpass Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space (1982), which made 2.3 billion yen in box office revenue, as the highest grossing film of the Gundam franchise.
