In the original theatrical release, "Dynamite Hands" which was filmed in color, was printed in black and white. The home video version uses the original color footage. Contrary to rumors, the video version was not colorized.
Director Stanley Donen had two uncredited cameo roles in the film. In "Dynamite Hands", he played the nightclub emcee who introduces Troubles Moran. In "Baxter's Beauties", he was the cab driver who is surprised by a large tip from George C. Scott, playing Musical Producer Spats Baxter.

This movie went into production under the title "Double Feature".
Both Harry Hamlin and Kathleen Beller have related how shocked they were on the first day of shooting, during which George C. Scott and Art Carney got so inebriated that no footage was captured.
