An excellent depiction of the story of the German occupation of Narvik and the ensuing French and British attempts to aid the Norwegian forces to liberate it in the year 1940. After such a long time, Narvik is that war movie which is rooted in strongly drawn characters and an authentic sense of time and place. The visual effects and action sequences are wonderful and are gripping without in any way glamorizing violence. The human complications and horrors of war that arises from neutrality and taking sides are brilliantly depicted. A very good message was conveyed in the movie that War doesn't have any sides in reality, there are no winners, all it does is leave dead bodies, sadness and grief in its wake, no matter which side you look at. The acting and dialogue delivery was not up to the mark, could have been better. This movie is a one time watch for sure.

The release of the movie was postponed for two years. First due to the 2019 Corona virus, and later on due to the war in Ukraine in 2022. The Covid pandemic delayed filming. And the producers didn't want to release a war movie, just as the war broke out in Ukraine. The filming of the movie was finished in 2021.
The characters "Ingrid Tofte" and "Gunnar Tofte" Are fictional characters, but the story is absolutely true. Eystein Røset, the only living Norwegian soldier from the battles in Northern Norway, attended a pre-screening, with is family, and said after the movie: "This is exactly how it happened"
