The premise here of a rancher passing away and leaving the ranch to his daughters is similar to that of the Australian TV series McLeod's Daughters (2001) and the earlier film of the same name McLeod's Daughters (1996). In that series as here, each of the daughters (Claire, Tess, and Jody) were by different mothers.
