TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Cecil B. DeMille initially thought Paulette Goddard was all wrong for the role of the half-breed Indian girl. Marlene Dietrich, Vivien Leigh, Katherine DeMille, Simone Simon, Anna Sten, Olympe Bradna, and Steffi Duna were considered for the part, but when Goddard showed up in his office in costume and make-up speaking pidgin English, he cast her.

John Wayne and Cary Grant were considered for the role of Dusty Rivers.

The world premiere of the film was held in Regina, Saskatchewan, the birthplace of the Northwest Mounted Police.

Joel McCrea was originally cast as Dusty Rivers. Gary Cooper traded roles so that McCrea could star in Foreign Correspondent (1940).

One of over 700 Paramount productions, filmed between 1929-49 that were sold to MCA/Universal in 1958 for television distribution. They have been owned and controlled by MCA ever since.

Popular Dialogues

"[Louvette betrays Ronnie to the rebels] Ronnie Logan: You crawling black scum! You sneaking she-wolf! You dirty squaw! I'll kill you when I get loose!"

"Louis Riel: Blood will run like water. Jacques Corbeau: You won't notice it much. The mounted police wear red coats."
