Anders Danielsen Lie (Anders) and Iselin Steiro (Iselin) are married in real life.
The demolition of the 15-story Philips Building in Oslo is shown early in the movie. The building was destroyed April 30 2000.
The movie is very loosely based on the French book "Le feu follet", a 1931 novel by Pierre Drieu La Rochelle. It was previously adapted into The Fire Within (1963) by Louis Malle.
Renate Reinsve's feature film debut. She had two lines. She would later reunite with director Joachim Trier, as the lead in The Worst Person in the World (2021).
When Anders visits Thomas' apartment at the start of the film, the Smiths album, "Louder Than Bombs" can be seen in the front of a tabletop cd rack. "Louder Than Bombs" is the title of Joachim Trier's subsequent film.
"Anders: It will get better. Everything will be alright. [laughing] Anders: Except it won't, you know."
