Leigh Lawson replaced Hywel Bennett after Bennett turned down the sequel.

Harry H. Corbett's character was closely modelled on former British Prime Minister Harold Wilson, using such Wilson catchphrases as "thirteen years of Tory misrule", and talking with a Yorkshire accent.

Denholm Elliott reprises his role as Emmanuel (later Sir Emmanuel) Whitbread from Percy (1971). Elke Sommer and Adrienne Posta also appeared in that film, but playing different parts.
