TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Joseph Mawle (Harry Harville) and Tobias Menzies (William Elliot) would later go on to play the parts of Benjen Stark and Edmure Tully in HBO's Game of Thrones. Their respective on-screen siblings Eddard and Catelyn were married.

The sheer, dotted muslin gown worn by Jennifer Higham (Louisa Musgrove) at Uppercross is the same gown previously worn by Kate Winslet (Marianne Dashwood) in Sense and Sensibility (1995) during the lawn bowling scene at Barton Park, and by Amelia Warner (Fanny Price, age 17) in Mansfield Park (1999). The same costume was later worn by Charity Wakefield (Marianne Dashwood) in Sense & Sensibility (2008) at Norland Park.

The green striped gown with velvet Spencer jacket Julia Davis (Elizabeth Elliot) wears at Kellynch Hall is the same costume Anna Chancellor (Caroline Bingley) wears at Netherfield Hall in Pride and Prejudice (1995). However, the bottom portion of the gown, cut on the bias, has been removed for the later film. This gown also appears in Vanity Fair (1998) worn by Vicki Pepperdine (Ann Dobbin) in the park scenes, and by an extra at the London party where Annabella Milbanke meets Byron in Byron (2003). The Spencer also appears, without the striped gown, in Little Dorrit (2008), worn by Emma Pierson as Fanny Dorrit.

The heather Spencer jacket with crushed velvet collar Sally Hawkins wears as Anne Elliot is the same costume Lisa Braund wears in The Regency House Party (2004), and Polly Maberly (Kitty Bennet) wears in Pride and Prejudice (1995) as Kitty Bennet.

The green linen coat with pink flowers at the waist Amanda Hale (Mary Musgrove) wears on the long walk to Winthrop is the same costume Lucy Davis (Maria Lucas) wears leaving Hunsford in Pride and Prejudice (1995), Daisy Haggard (Anne Steele) wears in London in Sense & Sensibility (2008), and Morven Christie (Jane Bennet) wears at Longbourn in Lost in Austen (2008).

Popular Dialogues

"Captain Wentworth: Miss Elliot, I can bear this no longer. You pierce my soul. I'm half agony, half hope. Unjust I may have been. Weak and resentful I have been, but never inconstant. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it eight years ago."

"Captain Wentworth: I imagined myself indifferent to her but I was only angry and resentful. Too late... too late I began to understand myself and her. Never have I met her equal in good sense or sweetness of character. She's perfection itself. I've never loved any but her. Captain Harville: We are talking now of Anne Elliot? Captain Wentworth: Of course! Who else?"
