The film is based on French journalist Anna Erelle's book "In the Skin of a Jihadist," about her investigation into the recruitment of young women by ISIS.
Amy chooses a drawing of Snow White in a hijab for her Skype profile picture. Anna Erelle, the real-life journalist, chose for her profile picture a cartoon image of Princess Jasmine from the Disney movie Aladdin.
In the opening scene, Amy begins creating her fake profile on Facebook. The first name she types in is 'Anna'. This is the name of the actual person this film is based on, the French journalist; 'Anna Erelle'.
