  • Story:

With the role of Raavan being carried out grandiosely by the talented actor Jeet, the theatres were seen to be filled with applause for a lot of scenes in the movie. There are multiple parallel lines of incidents across the movie which are constantly being hunted all along, and every story is pretty interesting to follow. The polar opposite stories of Professor Ram Mukerjee and Raavan, both played by Jeet himself, are a treat to watch on screen, especially with the exceptional acting skills of the hero himself.

The storyline basically revolves around the life of the professor being directed towards his family life, where simultaneously, his student Rai falls in love with him, marking the beginning of their romance. On the other hand, Raavan is a grotesque killer, killing handpicked people and leaving the police on a clueless head hunt. In a nutshell, the story is about how and when Ram became Raavan and vice versa. Saying anything more would be a spoiler.

    Why you should watch Raavan?
In spite of the Bengali movie scene being a relatively quiet segment of Indian cinema, the movie Raavan went ahead to become widely popular. This is mainly because of the interesting outlook of the movie, which is mostly a one-man show of the actor, who leaves nothing left behind with his top-notch acting skills. Everything about the character Raavan is served right by Jeet, especially with the execution of high-class action sequences and aesthetics throughout the movie. The movie is definitely not on the pocket-friendly side of things, and it is very much evident from various dimensions like makeup, aesthetics, and the scenic song sequences. This movie, however, is a grand exhibit of violence and gore in all of its glory. Hence, it might not be suitable for every age group or the faint-hearted.

The movie is definitely a treat for anyone who loves action and exaggerated heroism. The movie is filled with heavy stunts and is a fully packed action treat. However, many critics feel that the movie could have used better storytelling and writing. Another thing to mention would be how the movie is a full-on spotlight show of Jeet and Jeet only. Though this might be the sole aim of the director, it was too bad that the worthy actors in the support roles were given very little screen time.

To conclude, even with highly expressive action and thrill, the romance aspect of the movie seemed rather tasteless and unnecessary. The comedy as well is absolutely something that should have been avoided. This must have been due to the entire thought process being solely directed towards the lead role. Nonetheless, the movie as a whole is something that you should watch at least once to witness the unbeatable acting and variety of roles showcased by the talented Jeet.

    Trivia Alert

    • A good amount of time was put into researching split personalities before the role was played by Jeet in the movie.
