Football game action was filmed during halftime at Clemson Memorial Stadium, also known as Death Valley, during the Clemson Tigers - Charlotte 49ers game, played Saturday 21 September 2019. Fans obliged the producers by remaining in their seats for the gridiron sequences and cheered the "plays" as if they were real.
In post-game commentary, sports announcers stated that the level of crowd noise for the second "running down the hill," the Clemson Tigers' signature entrance to Death Valley, described by sportscaster Brent Musberger as "the 25 most exciting seconds in college football," recreated at the start of halftime, was actually louder than for the real team at the start of the game.
Scenes were filmed on Clemson University's campus including some inside of Clemson's Death Valley. Football scenes such as the running down the hill were filmed during halftime of Clemson's 2019 home game against the Charlotte 49ers on September 21.
Filming on the Clemson University campus and in the City of Clemson took place, 14-23 September 2019. Scenes were shot in the Carillon Garden area, 14-18 September; at Clemson Memorial Stadium, 14, 16, and 21-23 September; the R. M. Cooper Library's third floor, 16-18 September; and at the Clemson Athletics Facility, 19-21 September.
The game action that was recreated for the film originally took place on Saturday 2 September 2006, when Clemson opened their football season against first-time opponents the Florida Atlantic University Owls. The Tigers won, 54-6.
