This was the first of many musicals based on Naoko Takeuchi's manga Sailor Moon (known as SeraMyu), performed from August 11 to August 29, 1993.
A revised form of the musical, called Bishôjo senshi Sêrâ Mûn: Gaiden Dâku kingudamu fukkatsu-hen (Kaiteiban), was performed from December 23, 1993 to January 5, 1994, but not filmed.
This musical (and its revision) is the only stage show to feature the characters Luna and Artemis. It is also the only show to feature Haruna Sakurada, the teacher.
