Sita Thompson was originally cast as Sara, but then producer Duncan White tried to get her fired saying she had an issue with nudity because she wouldn't film a lesbian shower sex scene with two other women in Passion and Romance: Ocean of Dreams (1997), which he also produced. Thompson argued that she didn't have any problem with nudity. She and the other two actresses had refused to film that lesbian scene because White had dropped it on them at the last minute and none of them were comfortable doing it. But Thompson was still let go and the part of Sara was given to Leslie Harter (who later married Robert Zemeckis) instead.
The director said she had actors rehearse the sex scenes first to get used to being with each other. They'd start with clothes on and practice the choreography, but then they were required to strip off their clothes to get used to being naked with each other.
