STORY

Story
Reports of a weeping Madonna in Italy reach Las Vegas, where blackjack dealer Maggie has just learnt she has only weeks to live. With a massive leap of faith she convinces herself that seeing the Madonna with her own eyes could lead to her salvation, and travels to Europe to find it. Hitching through Italy, she meets pianist Mike, who is also en route to what he believes could be a life-changing event - a performance at the Barbarina concert in Naples.

Last live-action theatrical movie of Roddy McDowall (Gambler).

This production marks the last live-action theatrical movie performance for Roddy McDowall (Gambler). McDowall was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in April of 1998, one month before this movie's release; and he switched from film to voice work during the last months of his life. The cancer metastasized over the sixth month period McDowall had left to live, and by October 1998, it had spread to his brain. He died on October 3rd of that same year at the age of seventy.
