Win Condict had to be sewn into the rubber Slithis costume every day because said outfit didn't have any snaps or zippers. Moreover, once Condict was in the costume he had to stay in it for the entire duration of a day's shooting.

Writer/director Stephen Traxler wanted to do a sequel in which the creature terrorizes Los Angeles while Mello Alexandria's boat captain character hunts it down, but never could raise enough money to make said sequel.
The film was originally given an 'R' rating from the MPAA. The filmmakers trimmed the film down to a 'PG' and then snuck the cut footage back into the film since the MPAA did not follow up once the rating was assigned.
