The film was originally rated NC-17 by the MPAA due to its explicit sexual content, making the film Adam Sandler's first (and as of 2022, only) attempt at an NC-17 rated film. The film was later rerated R on appeal.
One of the rare Adam Sandler movies not to make back its budget. Shot for $70 million, it grossed $57 million worldwide.
