Alex Kingston did all of the nude scenes herself without the use of a body double.
This adaptation moves the setting of the novel forward a few decades. In the novel, adding up the dates reveals that Moll first goes up to London in the late 1630s, and begins her career as a thief in the 1660s. In this movie, however, these events are associated with Moll attending two plays, "The Country Wife" (1675) and "The Way of the World" (1700). The costumes are appropriate to this later period.
Daniel Craig appeared in Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021) with Ralph Fiennes, Alex Kingston's ex-husband.
This mini-series was given the restricted "18" certificate in the United Kingdom due to its considerable sex and nudity. In New Zealand, it was given the unrestricted "M" rating ("recommended for mature audiences", the same as the American Moll Flanders (1996) which has no nudity.
This mini-series was the fourth screen adaptation of Daniel Defoe's 1722 novel, 'The Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Famous Moll Flanders'.
