Much of the documentary was filmed during the actual Iditarod race. This is a 1,000 mile dog sled race through the Alaskan wilderness. Lance Mackey was a competitor in the race at the time.
Lance Mackey attended many of the screenings of the film at various film festivals, usually accompanied by one of his sled dogs.
