TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The first movie to be broadcast on television in 3-D.

Film debut of Patrick O'Neal.

The music playing in the restaurant when Gallico catches up with Karen attempting to get his carrying bag she accidentally picked up is a string version of the classic song Santa Lucia, probably made most popular by a recording by legendary tenor Enrico Caruso.

The mad magician disposes of some of his first victim's remains by burning them on a huge bonfire built as part of an outdoor student celebration. This echoes a famous scene in the 1944 film "Hangover Square", where Laird Cregar, as a deranged killer, gets rid of the corpse of the Linda Darnell character in the same way during a Bonfire Night celebration. Both films were directed by John Brahm.

Veteran character actor Jay Novello came from Italian parents and usually played Latin types - Italian, Mexican, Spanish or South American - but here, most untypically, affects what is almost an English accent as Mr. Prentiss.

Popular Dialogues

"The Great Rinaldi: [about Ormond] You had every reason to hate him. What did you do with him, Gallico? How did you get rid of it? [Don's crematorium] The Great Rinaldi: Was this thing already built and hidden away, waiting for a job like that? Don Gallico: Ormond was seen alive two weeks ago, The Prentisses identified him. The Great Rinaldi: That didn't have to be him. Don Gallico: Who else could it have been? The Great Rinaldi: It could have been you, Gallico. From what Ormond told me you are a clever man, developed a wonderful new makeup, something new in the theater. Something that might be used offstage too. Only a man who dreams up illusions would think of such a thing, and only people of the theater would know it was possible."

"Alice Prentiss: I'm convinced of it, so convinced that I'm going to Lieutenant Bruce right now! Frank Prentiss: Alice, I forbid it. Alice Prentiss: My dear, don't be ridiculous."
