TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

When Stuart Whitman was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar, his competition included 'Maria Schell''s brother 'Maximillian Schell' for his role in "Judgement at Nuremberg." Schell won. Maria Schell had told Whitman " I don't know who to vote for!".

The lead role was originally intended for Richard Burton, who had to drop out because of a stage commitment.

Although set in Britain, this was filmed in Dun Laoghaire and Ardmore Studios outside Dublin due to the controversial subject matter.

Features Stuart Whitman's only Oscar nominated performance.

Stuart Whitman's Best Actor Oscar nominated performance was the only one in the category not in a Best Picture nominee that year.
