TRIVIA

Trivia

Made its world television premiere on December 16, 2012, on Ovation TV's "Battle of the Nutcrackers".

Unlike the 1994 version, which uses these same sets and costumes, this 2012 version uses real children, and Masha is played by two different dancers - a little girl up until the Nutcracker kills the Mouse King, and an adult woman during the rest of the ballet, up until the end when she is seen as a little girl again..

Released to movie theatres in 3D, but issued on DVD in regular format.

In this staging, the Moorish doll is no longer played by a dancer with black makeup.
