After the lead and co-star pulled out of the film, Barbara Sicuranza suggested her husband Chris Stein could help. Stein is a member of Blondie and offered the role of Sherry to Debbie Harry. Harry immediately turned it down. Next he approached Joan Jett who not only accepted but wrote many songs for the soundtrack including the theme song.

Filmed during the writer's strike in Hollywood, Simonelli and Frumkes decided rather then being unemployed during that time they would take their least expensive script and produce it independently. The result was this film.
