TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Although playing the older man, Arthur Hunnicutt was actually twelve years younger than Randolph Scott.

During filming it was called "The Captives" (Elmore Leonard's original story title) and/or "The Tall Rider". Just prior to release, the title was changed to "The Tall T," the name of the Tenvoorde ranch in the early scenes.

During a meal, Chink is talking to Hank about Mrs. Sims and says "Had me a quiet woman once". The conversation, almost word for word, is also used the "Return of the Magnificent Seven" where Warren Oates' character talks about his love of women and Sonora Town.

At 45, Maureen O'Sullivan was widely felt to be too old for her character.

Columbia Pictures released this film on a double bill with Hellcats of the Navy (1957) starring Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan.

Popular Dialogues

"Doretta Mims: Well, what about you? Pat Brennan: I'm going to finish this. If they come, I'm going to finish this once and for all. Doretta Mims: Oh, but why? Pat Brennan: Some things a man can't ride around."

"[last lines] [Pat, to the weeping Doretta, after he has killed three murderous kidnappers] Pat Brennan: Come on now. It's gonna be a nice day."
