The Teacher is a Malayalam thriller that marks the comeback of actress Amala Paul to the mainstream. This film is based on the horrific crimes of sexual violence with a plot that revolves around a couple trying to get pregnant as the woman reveals sexual crimes against her during a sports meet. Rape and revenge are at the centre of this film, as the audience is taken through the ride to gain sympathy and to root for the protagonists. It shows how the female lead stands up for herself in a male-dominated society, breaking all kinds of stereotypes. However, in doing so, the movie tries to depict strength by showing things like women smoking and drinking onscreen, which is unnecessarily glorified. Additionally, Amala Paul shines in the lead role, while the supporting cast also is a perfect fit. However, the plot has several fallacies and the climax might not be something that you dreamt such a movie could end with.
