Filmed August-September 1972. The only "Amicus" anthology in which Peter Cushing does not appear, as he was still shooting another "Amicus," "And Now the Screaming Starts! (1973)," which began July 17.
Real-life brother and sister Daniel Massey and Anna Massey play brother and sister in the movie.
Despite the film's title, none of the stories showcased appeared in the EC comic "The Vault of Horror." The story "The Neat Job" originally appeared in "Shock SuspenStories," and each other story originally appeared in "Tales from the Crypt."
Robin Nedwell and Geoffrey Davies, who appear as the two medical students in Episode 4, were familiar on British TV as the stars of the long-running medical comedy series "Doctor in the House (1969)."
Unlike the first film, no story in this film was remade for "Tales from the Crypt (1989)."
