Rotten Tomatoes"Three Thousand Years of Longing" is a fantasy romantic drama movie that was released in 2022 and is produced and directed by George Miller.  This dramatic film's story is quite intriguing. It is about a lonely scholar, Dr. Alithea Binnie who went on a trip to Istanbul to attend a conference where he discovers a Djinn who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom. It's definitely a bit slow paced which is a turn off. In addition to it, the ending of this movie wasn't up to the mark and could've been better and more dramatic. But apart from that there are a lot of good things about the movie. The story is conveyed on screen in such a way that it would make you want to know about what's going to happen next. Undoubtedly, it's a very captivating movie. Not the best drama movie but can be a one time watch.Â

Cinematographer John Seale came out of retirement for the second time to shoot this movie. He'd previously done so in 2012 to shoot George Miller's previous film Mad Max: Fury Road (2015).
Originally, Nick Enright was set to co-write the script with George Miller, but he died from cancer in 2003 before he was to begin writing. Before his death, Enright suggested Augusta Gore, Miller's daughter and Enright's godchild, to take over writing.
The film makes several references to the fictional Shahrazad Airlines. The name homages the fabled storyteller Scheherazade from the "1001 Arabian Nights", who told her king a fanciful story each night.
Filming was originally supposed to take place in Australia, London and Istanbul in March 2020, but the COVID-19 Pandemic at that time caused the London and Istanbul filming to be cancelled, so the entire movie was shot in Australia doubling for those locations.
The demonic man who appears during Alithea's presentation, and who tried to control her luggage cart in the airport can both later be seen standing among the Queen of Sheba's courtiers.
"[first lines] Alithea Binnie: [narrates] My name is Alithea. My story is true. You're more likely to believe me, however, if I tell it as a fairytale."
"Genie: There is no human, nor angel, nor demon, who wouldn't grasp at the chance to fulfil their deepest longings. And I am saddled with the one who claims to want nothing at all? Alithea Binnie, you are a liar!"
