STORY

Story
Janie is a telephone operator who is caught up in the lines of love of three men: car salesman Tom, Chicago millionaire Dick and auto mechanic Harry. But Janie just can't seem to make up her mind between them. While fantasizing about her futures with each of the men, Janie spends her time desperately trying to juggle between them until she can make a decision.

During the shooting of this film the oscars took place. Ginger Rogers was nominated and won the best actress oscar for her previous film Kitty Foyle. the day after, she turned up to set and was met by all of the male cast and crew in top hats and tails in her honour.

Late in the film Dick takes Janie to Chicago to see a play starring Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. Lunt and Fontanne were the very couple who presented Ginger Rogers with her 1940 Academy Award for 'Kitty Foyle'.

This film did well at the box office earning RKO a profit of $234,000 ($3.87M in 2017) according to studio records.

In Janie's dream about marrying the rich Dick Hamilton, the front page of the newspaper announcing the nuptials also declares: "ADOLF HITLER ASSASSINATED ... World War End Expected as Hitler Slain ... Nazi Dictator Struck Down in Moscow".

The plot of the movie Tom and Janie are seeing at the start has the plot of a rich man and a poor girl falling in love. This is part of the basic plot of Ginger Roger's previous film, Kitty Foyle (1940).
