TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Amber Newman's debut and first nude scenes. She said in an interview that she got the role because she was friends with scream queen Lorissa McComas (the Vampire Queen), who introduced her to the producers. They asked Newman if she had ever acted before. When she said no, they asked if she'd be willing to be nude on screen. When she said yes, they said prove it. So she stripped her clothes off in front of them. They cast her immediately.

Co-director Michael D. Fox took a four-month leave of absence from a $50 thousand job to focus on making this film. During that time, Mark Burchett worked 50 hours a week as a theater manager, and spent all his free time on production.

A long-time acquaintance of co-director Mark Burchett, Lorissa McComas agreed to appear as the Queen Vampire in a dream sequence to add star power to the low-budget production.

Mark Burchett told Draculina magazine that while filming on location at a nightclub, one of the production assistants went into a back alley to shoot sexy glamour photos of a half-naked actress Stacey Sparks. The directors had no idea that was happening until it drew the attention of onlookers, who called the police. Two officers showed up wanting to know if they were shooting porn. After the directors convinced them they weren't, which Burchett said seem to disappoint them, the officers left.

During production, the directors received a call from the legal department at DC Comics saying they were publishing a series called Vamps about biker babe vampires and that this movie's title was too close for comfort. After some discussion, the directors changed the name to Vamps: Ladies of the Night to distinguish the two. But then they read in Draculina magazine that actress Debbie Dutch was appearing in a soon-to-be-released Vampress: Lady of the Night. So the directors changed the title again to Vamps: Deadly Dreamgirls.
